Animated Schematic:
This schematic is of a simple A/C condensing unit. It is taken off from a RUDD schematic. The exercise is to mouse over the schematic following a circuit (circuit = power source, two conductors, a load and as many switches as you want). While you follow the circuit in the schematic form, the various junctions and connections are pointed out with images of the wires and components in the actual equipment. Let your instructor know if this is helpful to your understanding.

CC -- Compressor Contactor
COMP -- Compressor
LAC -- Low Ambient Control
OFM -- Outdoor Fan Motor
RC -- Run Capacitor

1. Connect field wiring in grounded raintight conduit to 60 hertz disconnect, voltage and phase per rating plate.

2. Low voltage circuit to be N.E.C Class 2 with a Class 2 transformer 24 volt, 60 hertz.

3. To thermostat sub-base, refer to system schematics or schematics on indoor section for low voltage control wiring.
